Books
Many books. One invitation. . . .
become more fully your Self.
At first glance, my books may seem to explore unrelated themes—identity, becoming, reclamation, retreat, the natural world, meditation, poetry, photography. What connects them is a single question that has guided my work for decades:
How do we live from the deepest, most authentic part of ourselves?
And a deeply rooted belief that anchors the heart of my work:
Becoming begins when we pause long enough to listen deeply to our own inner voice.
Together, these books form an interconnected body of work—offering readers contemplative practices, practical tools, and fresh ways of seeing themselves and the world around them.
Each book offers a different threshold, yet all lead toward the same destination:
The reclamation of the Sovereign Self and a life lived in deeper kinship with Self, others, and the natural world.

Step Into the Void fuses contemplative photography and poetry exploring reclamation, belonging, and finding wisdom in the natural world. Through image and word, readers are invited into a deeper relationship with themselves, with nature, and with the mystery that unfolds when we release what no longer serves us. A companion for life's thresholds, these poems offer quiet invitations toward wonder, courage, and renewal.

Retreat is not an escape.
It is a practice of becoming.
Blending contemplative wisdom, personal reflection, and practical guidance, The Art of the Personal Retreat explores retreat not as an escape from life but as a way of entering life more fully. Through silence, solitude, nature, journaling, art, and intentional reflection, retreat becomes a threshold space where clarity emerges, old stories loosen their grip, and new possibilities begin to take shape.
Part invitation and part guidebook, this book offers both the deeper "why" of retreat and the practical "how." Whether you are navigating a life transition, seeking direction, recovering from burnout, deepening a spiritual practice, or simply longing to hear your own inner voice again, you will discover a framework for creating meaningful retreats that nourish body, mind, heart, and soul.

Wild Wanders
photo safaris for curious kids
Written during the pandemic for my two young nephews who seemed far more interested in screens than the world beyond them, Wild Wanders invites children to rediscover the joy of curiosity, creativity, and exploration. Part photography guide, part adventure book, Wild Wanders introduces children to the art of noticing through playful photo safaris that transform ordinary walks into journeys of discovery. Backyards, neighborhood parks, city sidewalks, or family vacations—every photo safari becomes an invitation to see the world with fresh eyes, and to discover that extraordinary things hide in plain sight.
The Practice of Seeing
exploring the relationship between seeing and becoming
Photography has become one of my spiritual practices. I love to travel and to take local photo-safaris— driving rural backroads and walking urban sidewalks armed with my trusty Nikon and a journal.
The photographs in my books and on this website emerged from a contemplative way of seeing the world grounded in the practice of Miksang, a Tibetan word often translated as “the good eye.” Rather than seeking dramatic landscapes or perfect moments, this way of seeing is rooted in presence—small encounters with light, texture, weather, movement, shadow, and the quiet emotional resonance of the ordinary.
Photography invites me to slow down, pay attention, and encounter the world with curiosity and wonder. It teaches me that meaning is often found not in dramatic experiences, but in learning to see what has been there all along.
Much like my writing itself, the photographs explore themes of becoming, identity, belonging, and relationship with the living world. They invite stillness, reflection, and a different quality of attention—one that values intimacy over spectacle and presence over performance. These images are not included as illustrations but as integral visual companions to the words—meditations in image and word. Together they form a visual meditation on becoming and the subtle ways the outer world mirrors our inner landscapes.
At the heart of this work is a simple but transformative question:
What changes when we learn to truly see?
