Companioning

spiritual companioning, coaching, holistic healing, personal retreats

Every threshold begins with a single invitation:

to become more fully yourself.

We each arrive at different thresholds in life. Some journeys are best traveled in community. Others call for one-to-one support, deep listening, or dedicated time for reflection and healing.

Whether through workshops, coaching, retreats, spiritual companioning, holistic healing, or publishing support, my work is rooted in a single intention: helping women reconnect with the deepest, most authentic part of themselves and move forward with greater clarity, courage, and alignment.

There is no single path into this work. Some people begin with a workshop. Others seek one-to-one support, retreat experiences, healing practices, or help bringing a book into the world. Each invitation offers a different doorway into the same journey of becoming.

For me, relationship is everything and I strive to gain a deep understanding of my client’s needs and goals. Our work together typically integrates elements of coaching, spiritual companioning, eco-spirituality, creative expression, and holistic healing. Drawing on my early years as an archaeologist, I often describe my Self as an archaeologist of the Soul, seeking out and inviting others to spaces that speak to the culture of place and the origins of our shared humanity.

A Passion for Supporting Women on Journeys of Becoming

My greatest passion and privilege continues to be supporting women to give voice to their deepest stories from a place of personal power, what I call the Sovereign Self, and to craft an authentic legacy to live into. I believe that all service holds equal value—service to Self, family, profession, community, nation, or world. It is an honor and a sacred act of service to walk with people proactively committed to deep inner work . . . . or who courageously travel the complex pathways of grief and loss . . .  or major life transitions that inevitably entail reassessing core values and reimagining identity.

I believe in the inherent and equal worth and dignity of all Beings who live interdependently with Mother Earth as part of All of Creation.  My practice is grounded in respect for the diversity of human experience and a commitment to creating spaces where all people feel seen, heard, and welcomed—exactly as they are.

An Integral Approach

Human beings are more than minds to be analyzed or problems to be solved. We are complex, interconnected beings whose lives are shaped by body, mind, spirit, relationships, story, culture, and sense of place. I do not begin with a formula, a personality profile, or a predetermined roadmap. I begin with a simple question:

Why are you here?

Together, we explore the experiences, questions, longings, losses, and possibilities that have brought you to this threshold and discern what is calling for attention, healing, or expression.

While every journey is unique, our work together may blend coaching, spiritual companioning, reflective writing, eco-spirituality, contemplative practices, and holistic healing. Rather than following a fixed methodology, I meet each woman where she is and we work collaboratively to discover what will best support her healing, growth, and becoming —aligned with her goals, interests, and preferences.

Spiritual Companioning

Spiritual companioning is not about fixing, advising, or providing answers. It is a practice of deep listening and sacred presence.

In our time together, we create space to explore life's deep questions, transitions, losses, longings, and moments of insight, awakening, and transformation. Whether you are navigating uncertainty, seeking meaning, deepening a spiritual practice, or simply longing for a place to be fully heard, companioning offers a gentle container for reflection, discernment, and becoming.

My spiritual formation has been heavily influenced by Buddhism, eco-spirituality, and shamanic worldview—ancient and innately human ways of knowing the world and healing Self and Soul.

Raised outside of religion or spirituality,  I find myself doing more work with people who are struggling with painful questions about Christianity or who have left the church and are wrestling with their connection to God outside of religious affiliation. For the sake of transparency, I am a lapsed Unitarian Universalist and an itinerant Buddhist of more than two decades.

Coaching

Sometimes a threshold requires more personalized support.

Sometimes, before we can move in a new direction, we must first examine the assumptions, identities, stories, and expectations that have shaped the path we are already walking. Lasting change rarely begins with a new plan. More often, it begins with a new way of seeing ourselves and our possibilities. By expanding our capacity for action, we create new possibilities for action.

My coaching integrates identity work, reflective inquiry, storywork, and practical next steps to help women navigate life transitions, caregiving challenges, estrangement, reinvention, leadership challenges, and other moments of profound change.

Together, we explore where you are, what is calling for attention, what wants to emerge, and how you can move forward in greater alignment with your deepest values, authentic self, and vision for the future.

Coaching is not about becoming someone else. It is about reclaiming the wisdom, agency, and possibility that already reside within you.

Holistic Healing

Healing involves more than solving problems. It invites us into deeper relationship with ourselves.

Many of us have learned to move through life by pushing forward, adapting to expectations, caring for others, or disconnecting from aspects of ourselves to survive. Over time, this can leave us feeling fragmented, exhausted, disconnected, or confused about who we are becoming.

Drawing upon contemplative and somatic practices, energy healing, mindfulness, shamanic traditions, nature-based wisdom, and decades of work supporting others through life's transitions, these sessions offer opportunities for restoration, insight, grounding, and renewal.

Each session is shaped around the unique needs, experiences, and beliefs of the individual—creating a safe and respectful space for healing, exploration, and personal growth. Rather than seeking to "fix" what is broken, our work together focuses on restoring connection, cultivating wholeness, and supporting the natural unfolding of healing and becoming.

Companioning for Personal Retreats

There are seasons in life when we need more than information, advice, or another program. We need space.

Personal retreats offer an opportunity to step away from daily demands and reconnect with the deepest parts of ourselves. Drawing upon more than twenty years of personal retreat practice, I work with women to create meaningful retreat experiences shaped around their unique questions, transitions, and longings.

Together, we clarify intentions, design practices that support reflection and renewal, and explore ways to integrate what emerges into everyday life. Whether you are navigating a life transition, seeking clarity, processing loss, or simply longing to hear your own inner voice more clearly, personal retreat companioning provides support before, during, and after the journey.

This companioning work is rooted in the approach explored in my forthcoming book, The Art of the Personal Retreat (February 2027), which invites women to create sacred space for reflection, reclaim their relationship with the Sovereign Self, and listen for what is emerging in the next chapter of their becoming.

Because sometimes the most important conversations we will ever have are the ones we finally make time to have with ourselves.

Your Book as a Pathway

For some women, the journey of becoming eventually finds expression through writing. Through Village of Care Press, I support authors, coaches, educators, spiritual caregivers, and thought leaders in bringing meaningful books into the world.
